CGJFC partner with Stockport Town FC

In a ground breaking move, Cheadle & Gatley JFC have signed a partnership agreement with Stockport Town FC aimed at keeping talented youngsters in the game once they’ve finished playing at junior level.

The agreement will give Cheadle & Gatley’s junior players the opportunity to progress to adult football with Stockport Town. The agreement also includes coaching development opportunities, season tickets to all Cheadle & Gatley JFC players, skills sessions and a junior club day at a Stockport Town FC North West Counties fixture during the upcoming 2018/19 season.

The two clubs will work together to grow the game across the borough and offer more opportunities for local people to play competitively.

Cheadle and Gatley JFC treasurer Richard Hubbard said:

“We are delighted to be formally working with Stockport Town. It gives a pathway to adult football for our 350 plus children who wish to play beyond junior football or find a pathway into a career related to sport.

“We hope to develop this relationship this year with our talented group of 60 16-18 year olds, working with the board and members of Stockport Town FC.”

Stockport Town chairman Seb Rowe said:

“The club are delighted to have signed a partnership agreement with one of the Boroughs biggest and most sustainable junior clubs. The link will ensure that more local players have the opportunity to progress within the game via our Under 18’s, Under 21s and first teams.

“Working with fantastic junior clubs like Cheadle & Gatley JFC will allow for a smooth transition into adult football and increased participation, along with the option of pursuing a B-TEC qualification through Stockport Town FC also.”
